Cleaning Painted Surfaces

As the weather is warming up and flowers bloom, many people look for the opportunity to get to some of that spring cleaning. If you have a painted surface that is looking a little less than ideal, we at MacPaint have a couple of suggestions for you. For stains on your walls or other surfaces, we recommend dipping a rag or sponge into water mixed with a little dishwashing liquid, the milder the better and gently patting the stain, making sure not to rub off any paint. If the stain(s) still persist after that, consider a stronger cleaning agent such as Fantastik or Formula 409. Realize, however, that they have strong solvents in them and can soften the paint surface so be very careful and frugal with such cleaning agents. After you have cleaned the stain, wash out the rag or sponge and clean the surface with fresh water. For larger exterior surfaces consider power washing the area. We will go over a DIY guide to power washing in the next post. Following these steps should keep your painted surfaces looking fresh for the rest of the year and years to come!
